Ensign Autorange 220

6x6/6x4.5cm Pre War Version

A folding camera coupled rangefinder model of Houghton, offering a choice of 6x6 and 6x4.5cm size format on 120 film.

This Ensign Autorange 220 camera was launched in 1938(-1941). Attached lens was their own made Ensar 75mm F4.5 or Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 75mm F2.8 in Prontor or Compur Rapid shutter. Focusing is by radial lever on the front bed.

The choice of film format is by raising up a pair of thin brade in the film chamber when the film is loaded.

The good idea is that it is possible to wind the films exposing by seeing on the scaled wheel. You have only to set No 1 exposure's position looking at into red window at the first time and can keep the windows cover close all the time. It causes that you are able to use rather high speed films even more ISO 400. Its very uniqu idea, not usually found on a folding camera.
